Timothy Flanigan

White House Deputy Counsel

Timothy Flanigan, the White House deputy counsel under Alberto Gonzales, had been active in the Federalist Society and was a volunteer in Bush v Gore, the legal case that settled the 2000 presidential election. Flanigan had previously served as Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel during the administration of the first President Bush. Under George W. Bush, he was one of the five lawyers who secretly referred to themselves as the "War Council." From November 2002 to 2008, Flanigan served as general counsel for corporate and international law at Tyco, International.
