TAB C-2 Biographical Sketches (New staff/consultants as of December 17, 1994) PRAVEEN FERNANDES Research Associate Before joining the Advisory Committee, Mr. Fernandes worked at the Senate Committee on Labor & Human Resources, as a staff assistant to Senator Edward M. Kennedy's economic advisor, job training advisor, and labor counsels. He graduated from Brown University in June 1994 with a B.A. in Biomedical Ethics. Within the Biomedical Ethics field, Mr. Fernandes' particular area of interest is informed consent policies and adolescents, which was the focus of his thesis research. He is also interested in immigration law/policy, and issues of race and ethnicity. SHOBITA PARTHASARATHY Research Associate Ms. Parthasarathy recently received her B.A. from the University of Chicago where she majored in biology, while also fulfilling the degree requirements for a major in public policy. Before joining the Advisory Committee staff, she worked as a policy analyst for the Chicago Health and Medicine Policy Research Group where her work focused primarily on provisions for women's health in the various health care reform proposals. During the summers of 1992 and 1993, Ms. Parthasarathy served as a student researcher at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Her work culminated in a paper about the nature of myocardial infarction and its impact on patients' recovery from heart disease, which is soon to be published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
