Dear Sir:

Reference is made to your letter of March 21, 1957, to the
Manager, ILLEGIBLE, and recent discussion between ILLEGIBLE and
Mr. ILLEGIBLE , of ILLEGIBLE office, on decontamination of
sampler aircraft during Plumbbob.

In your letter of March 21, you indicate a desire to reduce
aircraft decontamination procedures ILLEGIBLE to be in ILLEGIBLE
with Air Force to that operation ILLEGIBLE are sympathetic with
your desire to reduce the time and effort required for aircraft
decontamination, thereby reducing the amount of time the craft is
ILLEGIBLE service.  However, of ILLEGIBLE importance in this
instance is holding the amount of cross contamination to a
minimum consistent with the requirement of the Weapons
Laboratory.  We have ILLEGIBLE with the ILLEGIBLE procedure
conflicts with the ILLEGIBLE radiology safety requirements which
are to keep persons exposure to a minimum and as close to zero as
possible.  In the event you should wish to carry on the program
as a ILLEGIBLE

project under the Test Director independent of the sampling
program for the purpose of establishing operational limits for
Air Force training, we feel it would have considerable merit, and
we will do everything possible to obtain a waiver of ILLEGIBLE
operating radiological safety requirements.

I sincerely regret the delay in reply to this request, and would
suspect that in the future you might expedite actions of this
type, in which the services being rendered are under the direct
support of the laboratories, by contacting ILLEGIBLE and/or LASL
directly.
