Dear Dr. Stone:

Reference is made to your letter of December 4, 1947 relative to
the declassification of certain material intended for Volume 20. 
As you requested, we have examined Report CH-3820 and agree with
you that it should be declassifiable.  As you know,
declassification of this document will have to be initiated by the
Coordinating Organization Director responsible for the contract
under which the work was done.  Probably you will wish to initiate
declassification of the document yourself, but I can do so, if you
prefer.

With reference to report CH-3592, I have been informed that the
classification of this document as RESTRICTED was requested by Dr.
A.H. Holland, of Oak Ridge Office of Directed Operations, for
medical reasons, in May 1947.  It would probably be desirable for
you to discuss directly with Dr. Holland his reasons for this
action.

Report CH-3607 was classified RESTRICTED purely for administrative
reasons, since at that time NNES documents could not be completely
declassified.  It is actually declassified now that the
restrictions on the NNES have been removed, and no special action
needs to be taken.

Declassification of Report MUC-ERE-209 was held up at the request
of Dr. B.M. Brundage, for medical reasons.  I have been informed
that these reasons make the report substantially underclassifiable. 
Again you may wish to discuss this matter directly with Dr.
Holland, who is Dr. Brundage's successor.

I was very glad to get your letter, and will be very pleased to
hear from you further, and follow through on any matters relating
to Volume 20 which you wish to have me work on.  However, on these
medical matters I think it is desirable for you to deal directly
with Dr. Holland.
